⚠ GovInfo uses Cloudflare which blocks automated fetches. If this fails, switch to Upload XML / HTM — download the file from GovInfo and upload it directly.
How This Works
01

Upload XML/HTM from GovInfo directly — the most reliable path. Go to govinfo.gov, find your bill, download the XML or Text file, upload it here. Zero network issues.

02

Extracts only sections being amended or repealed (not mere citations). Fetches current statutory text via the GovInfo API (api.govinfo.gov, CORS-enabled, no proxy needed for the lookup) then fetches the HTM content.

03

Parses amendment instructions — strike, insert, redesignate — and applies them to the current code text to build the redline.

04

Renders struck text and new text inline. New sections shown in blue.

Getting the bill file from GovInfo: Search for your bill at govinfo.gov/app/collection/BILLS, or construct the URL directly: govinfo.gov/app/details/BILLS-119s4145is (format: BILLS-{congress}{type}{number}{version}). Click XML to download, then upload it here. The Fetch by Bill Number mode attempts this automatically but may be blocked by Cloudflare. The current USC text (fetched live) may also occasionally be slow — uscode.house.gov uses the same proxy path.
